LEARNING TO START SMALL | BUILDING MOMENTUM AND LEARNING CONSISTENCY

Picture this, you just made an amazing meal, you are super hungry so you heap your plate full of the deliciousness and just dive in, 10 spoons later you are stuffed and you still have a mountain of food to consume what now? You abandon the meal for later, which most times later never comes. Happens to the best of us right?

Upon reflection of my past month goals, I came to the realization I take this approach to my life. Heap on more than I can finish because I am sooooooooo excited and then rush rush rush, sometimes choke, get burnt out and just abandon everything.

I wonder why it took me this long to realise but hey better late than never.

So this month we are taking a different approach – because doing something the same way and expecting a different result is insanity. And I like to think I am sane

This last leg of the year I really want to focus on two things How well not how much and Building a momentum

It is so easy to get caught up in the numbers, wanting to max out on what you have to offer and the reason we do this is that there is an abundance of content each day and we feel if we aren’t putting stuff out continuously we get forgotten so we push and push and burn and crash. I think that is an unhealthy approach if you want to build a sustainable and long-lasting relationship/community.

Do not put yourself in a position where creating content or doing the things you love becomes burdensome to you.

I have always been that person that wants to start building a house from the roof and get it done in 2.5 seconds (yea I know). However, I have come to realise things do not work that way.

So here are four reminders I have set for myself this month to help me out;

  1. REMEMBER WHY YOU ARE DOING IT – I started writing because I had something to say and just wanted to share with the world, hey have you heard this? Hey, here is a nice dose of love and faith. Then came numbers and recognition, I mean when I started if one person read my blog I was over the moon and now I get discouraged when I get 50 views like the dude that is 49 more people than you had, be happy! So I am going back to the root, where all that matters is the joy of sharing with just one person.

  2. PATIENCE – I think the saying goes ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’ sometimes it is easy to compare yourself to your peers or even mentors or role models maybe some random stranger on the gram but you need to remember your journeys are different. It takes time and effort and Patience to get to the point you desire, no one will just drop you off there by the flick of a wrist

  3. FOLLOW YOUR HEART – I know there are so many hacks and how-tos and coaching programs on how to do just about anything on planet earth, while those are wonderful and have their advantages you must remember there is no hack on how to be you. You know what works best for you. You see you, no one can direct the affairs of your life better than you can. So follow your heart, trust your gut on what path you think suits you best.

  4. SHOW UP – Girl shows up! Dude, I hide a lot, if I am gone for a little bit it is always so difficult to come back in, so I have decided to show up for myself daily, either in front of you guys or just by myself. Do not let the ball out of your hands for too long. I get the need for rest, however, you must remember there is a transition between rest and ghosting. Do not take that route.

.

Start small, learn to crawl and master that then move on to standing, allow room for stumbling and falling, take it one step at a time, one day at a time, one week at a time.

Focus on one goal or project and build yourself a piece at a time. Do not be in such a hurry to juggle every project at once, else you drop them all.

The world doesn’t stop spinning, things will always keep moving, but you control the speed and momentum, in which you spin with the world. if you jump in without mastering your stamina then you will get knocked out on your behind.

With all that said, my new posting schedule, for the time being, is a new blog post every Monday and a new video on Youtube every Thursday.

Also, I am super excited to say I am working on my first spoken words album!!! Yay!

To keep up with the process you can follow me on the gram at @theblackscribbler

Do not forget;

YOU ARE LOVED,

YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.

YOU MATTER.

STAY SHINING
