GOING BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD  | 5 PROMPTS TO HELP YOU GET BACK ON TRACK IN LIFE

Hey guys, how have you been? Genuinely want to know how you guys are doing with everything that has been going on around us.

In my last blog post HERE I touched on 8 lessons/reminders from 2020 so far. Something I was able to do during the lockdown, was reevaluating my life, I went back to the drawing board.

It is important to do some reflecting on where you are now and where you are headed, are you on the path you are truly happy about? Or have you gone way off script and you do not like where you currently are (you can go off script and that might have been the best thing that happened to you)?

Asking ourselves questions that prompt deep thinking is something we should endeavour to do as often as possible. Asking yourself “How are you?” “How do we feel about this?” “Are we happy?”. Do not go through life ignoring yourself. Have check-ins with yourself.

I had a whole moment where I did not know what I wanted, everything looked good. I discussed this on my youtube channel HERE, and I realised I had gone way off script and not in ways I liked or appreciated. So I went back to the drawing board.

Today I will be sharing some prompts with you on how to get back on track by going to the drawing board. Ps. Freebie at the end.

  1. When you started what did you want to do? It is so easy to get distracted and sidetracked by a lot of things in this world, other things would seem more profitable or more fun or just more, especially when we look at them online but you need to go back and ask yourself what precisely you wanted to achieve when you started on your venture, what was the result you were aiming at? Take away every other thing and zero in on those points.

  2. Why did you start? – There is always a WHY we all have a reason behind every action we take, every decision made, so ask yourself why you started what you started. For me, I started my blog to share my poems and share messages of encouragement with a younger version of myself. I just wanted to reach out to that one girl who might be going through a difficult time, however, somewhere along the line I forgot my WHY and it became evident. Do not get me wrong, your WHY can change but it needs to be a conscious and deliberate change, one you agreed with and not just one that happened and you do not even realise it has happened.

  3. What are you passionate about? – We all have things that pick our interest and gets our hearts running and just makes us come alive, it might be something you consider ‘small’ but if it gets you going then it is important and big. So what is that thing or what are those things?

  4. What problem do you always want to fix – Look around you and pay attention to the problems in the world that you always gravitate towards fixing, there is a fire in the world you always try to put out, be it amongst family members, friends, random strangers, people on the internet. What issues do you feel so strongly about providing a solution to?

  5. What can you spend hours talking about? –  There is always something you can talk about for years on end and not get tired or bored and there is always a fire in you when you talk about this/these things. What are they?

Going back to the drawing board of your life allows you to analyse where you were going and where you are now. If you set out from point A to point C and you realise you are currently in point K, you need to ask if this is where you should be, how did I get here, are we happy we are here? Do I need to get back to point B? Why did my path or destination change? Even if you say “life happens” or we are going with the flow, there needs to be a level of self-awareness in the flowing with the wind. I am all for flexibility in life but be aware of where you are bending and shifting towards and there should be a carriage of lessons and experiences as you go on in life.

I hope this helps. Do not forget you are in control of your life, you can do anything you set your mind to and with time and determination it will all work out to plan. But there must be a plan.
