EIGHT REMINDERS FROM THE FIRST EIGHT MONTHS OF 2020

Hi lovelies, how have we all been? I know 2020 has been a year and some and we haven’t gotten to the last quarter. It is very easy to focus on the hardships and negatives this year has brought, however despite all of the pain, tears and all around madness 2020 has been a wake-up call and probably a gift in disguise for a lot of us.

Here are 8 lessons from January – August 2020

  1. IT IS YOUR LIFE: A lot of us go about our lives like we are doing others a favour, we act like we have a spare life somewhere and just glaze over our existence, we blame everything and everyone for anything that goes wrong, not wanting to grow or make the necessary changes or do the work necessary to get to our final destination. Hello dear if this is you please wake up, if 2020 has taught us anything it is the fact that life is so fickle and you are the master of your universe while you are here. Make good use of it.

  2. LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT: I can’t seem to get this phrase out of my head. Life really is what you make of it, I know we all have different situations and stories, and life can be unfair. Despite all of that life truly is what you make of it. It will take time, effort, some tears, a feeling of hopelessness sometimes, but you can get through, you can push through if you want and you keep at it. Slowly but surely. Do not allow your situation or circumstances dictate your future.

  3. IT IS OKAY TO TAKE TIME OUT: The greatest gift this year brought was a universal pause, this year has given us all moments to sit back and reflect, check up on yourself, reevaluate your life and what you have been doing. It allowed people to tow a different path and just get to know themselves better. Some people have started a business, changed majors in school, graduated, spent more time with family, picked up new hobbies, healed, made new friends. Whatever it was you did with your time during the break, even if it was sleeping was good for you and you needed it. Remember that it is okay to take time off and when you come back we will be here to receive you.

  4. IT DOES GET BETTER: So far 2020 has been a massive “U” for me, started high, hit some low lows and then slowly picked up in the last month and a half. You might be in the depth of your U, I am here to tell you it gets better, just hold on, keep going, keep showing up and eventually, the dark clouds will give room for a new dawn.

  5. BE KIND TO OTHERS: Everyone is going through something, everyone has a pain they hide so well, a scar they cover or insecurities they laugh about. Be kind to others, give people room to grow, educate with love, do not put people down to make yourself seem bigger. Just be kind, if you can\’t be kind then keep going.

  6. GIVE YOURSELF A MOMENT TO JUST BE: We are all in a hurry to get to our goals and achieve achieve achieve, do do do, and when we do not know what to do next we feel so lost. Allow yourself to just be, give allow yourself to be confused and tired and lost and hurt, it won\’t always be a smooth ride, the turbulence is part of the ride. Acknowledge it, feel it, and then deal with it.

  7. TRUST YOURSELF: Trust yourself! You are your best man, you know yourself better than anyone else so trust your instincts, trust in your process, trust in your dreams and goals. Trust in your abilities.

  8. REACH OUT TO THOSE IN YOUR LIFE, THEY MIGHT JUST NEED AN OLIVE BRANCH: Reach out to people, just a simple ‘Hi, how have you been? Just checking in’ goes a long way. People are feeling lonely and lost and you might just be someone’s saving grace.

A bonus lesson from this year has been the importance of happiness. HAPPINESS IS KEY: Happiness is something we take for granted, and I do not mean fleeting moments of excitement, I mean happiness the sensation that comes with peace and contentment. That should always be the priority in all that we do. If you are not happy with your life or situation, do something about it.

2020 is not over yet, 2020 can still be a good year for you. Do not strike it out.

QUESTION OF THE DAY: What lessons have you learned from 2020 so far?

Stay Shining Lovelies.

YOU ARE LOVED.
