Tell me you love me,
Just once, to hear the resound of those words,
To feel the vibration through your throat,
To hear it in the voice of your soul,
Just say it, even if it be a fib,
How many days have gone by?
Seconds to minutes to hours now days then months,
Yes, years then what?
Forgetting the most important person under the sun; YOU,
Has it ever occurred to you,
Just for a sliver of a second How Much YOU are Worth.
Why do you not look at me the way you look at them?
The appreciation you wear is one of depreciation and longing,
I see how you curse me with the filthy stares you cast my way,
The demeaning jokes you tell as a cover up,
They laugh but I hurt, we hurt,
Why can’t your appreciation be one of construction?
You don’t like me for who I am?
Then do something about it.
Isn’t that what you would rather do,
Be a mini version of someone else than be the real you.
I need you to cast your sight on me,
Just you and I,
Take a good look through those eyes,
Each wrinkle tells a story,
You are worthy of your love and appreciation,
You are special and wonderful,
Yes, there is the boy who is obviously smarter,
And the girl whose voice is better,
But there is you,
Your laughter is a symphony of healing,
Your hands an extension of blessings,
Somewhere someone is always going to be a step above,
A tad richer, two sizes smaller,
Just a bit taller, somewhat more industrious,
And that my darling is okay.
The hinges of a door are most times never recognized,
Yet they hold it all together,
A man never asks for the most expensive hinge,
But he asks for the most expensive and beautiful door or frame,
That in no way depreciates from the value of the hinge,
Without the hinge there is no functional door.
Your value no matter how tiny it may seem, is as powerful as the first block in a dominos effect.
