Dear Future Husband

Today I have unrealistic goals of whom you are, and that is okay, Today you are the fictional character from my favorite series or book,
Tomorrow though, tomorrow you will be that guy I met at the bank or my friend’s friend,
For now, you are just a figment of my vivid imagination.

Today I pray for you, that tomorrow we would be worthy of each other,
I have given you a place in my heart, before I set my eyes on you,
I can promise to love and honor you, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, till death do us part. But that would be a lie.
I can promise to put you first before anyone else and respect you always, but that would be more lies.

But this I can promise you; To love and support you even when it isn’t convenient,
To stand rooted by your side, 
To be irrational, annoying, and frustrating, sometimes for no apparent reason,
To be your partner and assistant,
To continually strive for the best version of myself, 
For today, those are the things I can offer, but tomorrow may beg to differ.

Today I strive to be better,
So dear future You,  do me a favor,
Build on yourself daily for me,
For when you are ready to leave thy parents house,
We shall be whole entities,
Merged to form one flesh and not halves struggling to complete each other.
