MISTAKES I AM HAPPY I MADE

In honor of the festivity, starting today I would put up different fun posts each day for the remaining days of 2016!! Hope you enjoy them!

Do not take yourself too seriously. You have to learn not to be dismayed at making mistakes. No human being can avoid failures. Lawrence G. Lovasik

These are some mistakes I am happy I made;

Failing my first year of A levels; Sounds pretty stupid I know, after I went past the \”shame\” and disappointment I realized that the year wasn\’t a waste, fair enough academically I had not accomplished what was expected of me (I had CEE, very terrible something sha), but I had grown mentally, emotionally and otherwise, and it made me value the importance of striking a balance in my life. P.S I did foundation and got A*AAB. lol. Don\’t worry I will dedicate a post to give you the full gist(story).

“We are products of our past, but we don\’t have to be prisoners of it.”
Rick Warren, The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here for.

Forcing change on someone; We all have that one person or more than one as it may be, that we so badly want to change, we want to somehow magically evolve their mindsets to be \”in line\” with ours, yea been there done that – epic fail! It just made me understand that you can not enforce change on a person, change is a journey they must be willing to embark on, not because you said so, but because they want it. So now I quite frankly do not waste my energy, I just say/do what I can and the rest is up to you.

To be an instrument of change there must be a lubricated working mechanism in place between you and the receiver else there would be friction

Drinking Panadol for another person\’s headache; this is a Nigerian saying which basically means, bearing someone\’s problems for them. I used to do this a lot, I would be angry or sad for the person as though it is a full time job and funny enough it doesn\’t concern me at all o, just because we are friends and the person in question wont even be too bothered by the situation. I finally understood that I shouldn\’t expend energy unnecessarily on such situations especially when I cant do anything about it; that is just being wicked to myself.

“Many times what we perceive as an error or failure is actually a gift. And eventually we find that lessons learned from that discouraging experience prove to be of great worth.”
Richelle E. Goodrich, Smile Anyway: Quotes, Verse, & Grumblings for Every Day of the Year

Doing stuff even with so much doubt; The list is long, ranging from reading my poetry to an audience to getting into photography to this blog, quite frankly at a point i felt these steps were a mistake and most times i had major doubts about my contents, but am glad i went ahead nonetheless, because it has helped me realize my mistakes and get better, so yay for me.

“If you hear a voice within you say you cannot paint, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.”
Vincent Van Gogh

Trusting people too much; I like making excuses for people, you know, trying to understand their actions before \”judging\” them but when you do too much and i cant make sense of things i know i have done everything i can and i do not feel guilty. Don\’t worry i don\’t trust people to the \”mumu button\”(stupidity) level.

So yea, there are many more but the point is, learn to appreciate the mistakes you have made, some might be very deep and severe but at least now you know better.

Tell me a mistake you are happy you made!!

Stay Shining Lovelies!!
