VALENTINE\’S DAY LOVER

Hey ScribeSquad, how we doing? So, it is yet another Valentine’s day. And while I might have a thing or two to say about this day, I decided to be a walking cliché and just share a piece I once wrote on love. Enjoy.

I crave the velvety feel of love,

The soft caress of passion and desire,

I want to be your good nights and good mornings,

To say I love you and call you baby,

To be your rain and sunshine and the storm between,

I want to be your tears and smile; your drops of laughter,

To wake with a skipped beat at the sight of you,

I want to be your pain and healing; your tragedy and happy ending,

I want to be the reflection staring back in the mirror,

With those eyes holding an emotion greater than love,

I want to be you and me and us and we,

I want to be,

I want to be all that there is to you,

I want to be one.

You are loved, and even though society has made this day about flowers and chocolate, and a need to outdo an unknown competitor all in guise of love. It is about Love, be it from a spouse, friend, mother, father, daughter, uncle, sister. (you get the point).

Call that friend you haven’t talked to in a while, tell a random stranger on the road how beautiful they look, tell your family members you love them.

I feel the need to put it out (because this day breeds desperation and depression) that YOU ARE NOT YOUR RELATIONSHIP STATUS. Do not go about feeling miserable because no one got you an extravagant gift, and do not sell your soul for a day’s pleasure. Tomorrow won’t be Valentine’s and today will be a thing of memory.
