A Child\’s Joy

A Child\’s Joy is rooted in the simplicity of life

A child\’s Joy

A child\’s Joy

I want to be a child again, not caring about the future or putting plans in place,

So I can cry one minute and laugh the next,

To accuse anyone else but my mum of spanking me, whilst in her cradle,

To pout and fight with you in the same breath love and shower you with kisses,

Feeling the need to explore everything mostly the things told not to,

I want to be a child and worry for nothing,

To feel the pressure of learning the alphabets,

And the frustration of making my 5 look different from my S,

I want to play in the rain and not feel stupid,

To jump around the field and get my socks dirty,

To have a clean slated mind void of the thoughts that now plaque its innocence,

So I can hold hands with the opposite sex without having some underlying meaning read into it,

I want to be a child again, no caring about the future or putting plans in place.

To have the attention span of a fly; move, perch, move perch,

To believe in magic, superheroes and fairies,

Hence Cinderella and Snow White; my role models,

I want to be that child who still believes she can be anything,

The one who has so much faith in the impossible,

Whose eyes sparkle at the little things,

Learning to see the world with fresh eyes,

The one who is so eager to grow up because I hear it is fantastic,

To eat as much candy that it hurts and still want more tomorrow,

I want to be the annoying one who asks loads of questions, and not be judged for not knowing,

Having the gift of making mistakes and be corrected with love,

I just, I want to be a child again,

So excited about the flavor of cake I want on my birthday, and not care the calories,

Than worry about my \”unaccomplished\” goals as I get older,

I want to be a child again, not caring about the future or putting plans in place,

Because the Joy of a child is all-encompassing and none refundable.

What childhood memories do you still hold on to?

Stay Shining, The Blackscribbler.
